TRANSIENT ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INJURY DURING G-CSF MOBILIZATION IN HEALTHY PERIPHERAL STEM CELL DONORS: A CASE SERIES
(EBMT 2026)
- " We retrospectively collected data of 3 healthy donors (2 related and 1 unrelated) who developed acute myocardial injury during PBSC mobilization with biosimilar filgrastim (10 μg/kg/day for 5 consecutive days), observed at our Department between January 2024 and December 2025...In the 21-year-old female donor TTE showed preserved biventricular function and mild pericardial effusion that was treated with a short ibuprofen therapy... This is among the first reports of transient myocardial injury in healthy PBSC donors after receiving G‑CSF, suggesting a possible association. Cardiovascular adverse events should be considered in the differential diagnosis of donors reporting chest pain during HSCs mobilization, leading to prompt cardiological evaluation. Careful clinical monitoring and multidisciplinary management are crucial."

Protein engineering of a genetically encoded biosensor for wastewater detection of profen NSAIDs.
(PubMed, bioRxiv)
- "The resulting sensor, PYR NSAID , has a nanomolar limit of detection for ketoprofen and panoprofen, and µM sensitivity to the NSAIDs ibuprofen, fenoprofen, tolmetin and diclofenac. We also demonstrated dose responsive-activity of our sensor in simulated wastewater matrices containing the common wastewater contaminants sulfamethoxazole, caffeine, acetaminophen, and 2,4, dichlorophenol using a split Nanoluc luminescence assay. PYR NSAID is the first step towards a scalable, cost-effective alternative for real-time monitoring of pharmaceutical pollution."

Unveiling the Uncommon: A Rare IgE-Mediated Presentation of Multiple Drug Hypersensitivity Syndrome.
(PubMed, Cureus)
- "Although it is commonly associated with delayed reactions, we report a rare case of immediate IgE-mediated MDHS in a 30-year-old female who reacted to levofloxacin and ibuprofen. Both reactions were confirmed through drug challenges, while acetylsalicylic acid was tolerated, excluding COX-1 cross-reactivity. This case highlights the importance of recognizing IgE-mediated MDHS and performing thorough allergy diagnostic workups to ensure accurate management and patient safety."

Addressing the Challenge of Wastewater Upcycling Through Cavitation-Plasma Synergy: From Pilot to Semi-Industrial Scale.
(PubMed, ChemSusChem)
- "The effective exploitation of HC/ED plasma synergy led to the process achieving the quantitative degradation of model pollutants, specifically ibuprofen and diclofenac (10 mg/L), in competitive times (13 passes) and without detectable byproducts, thereby validating the process' robustness and successful scale-up. Although current wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) recover nutrients from sludge, biologically treated effluents still contain pharmaceutical residues. This work therefore, potentially solves this issue by providing a sustainable strategy for complete wastewater upcycling in WWTPs, delivering safe regenerated water for agricultural and irrigation reuse, while closing the water cycle."

A green and sustainable approach using Thuja occidentalis-mediated Fe3O4 QDs decorated on rGO NSs for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of antibiotics.
(PubMed, RSC Adv)
- "Under visible-light irradiation, the Fe3O4 QDs-rGO NSs demonstrated superior photocatalytic performance toward pharmaceutical contaminants, achieving degradation efficiencies of 94.5% for ciprofloxacin (CIP), 76.2% for ibuprofen (IBU), and 90.7% for tetracycline (THC) within 120 min at an optimum catalyst dose of 5 mg and neutral pH ≈ 7. The enhanced activity is attributed to the synergistic interaction between Fe3O4 QDs and rGO, which promotes efficient charge carrier separation and radical generation. These results highlight the potential of bioinspired Fe3O4 QDs-rGO NSs as an efficient, sustainable photocatalyst for wastewater remediation applications."

Seasonal and spatial dynamics of organic micropollutants in a Mediterranean river: implications for environmental risk assessment.
(PubMed, Environ Geochem Health)
- "Among the 27 tested pharmaceuticals, ibuprofen (4.7 µg/L), caffeine (23.6 µg/L), telmisartan (833.5 ng/L), carbamazepine (658.5 ng/L), gemfibrozil (71.0 ng/L), mefenamic acid (64.7 ng/L), and diphenhydramine (65.9 ng/L) were the most frequently detected, with some reaching notably high concentrations in the µg/L range in surface water. Sediments revealed ubiquitous contamination by ibuprofen, telmisartan, climbazole, diphenhydramine, and azithromycin...The findings from this study contribute to the state of knowledge of pollution levels of emerging contaminants in a major Mediterranean river and permit to inform and guide future mitigation and management strategies. The environmental risk assessment applied in this study enabled the translation of measured concentrations into ecologically meaningful indicators allowing the identification of priority contaminants and high-risk locations."

Population developmental hazard of over-the-counter NSAIDs.
(PubMed, Folia Med Cracov)
- "Same epidemiological studies show that OTC antipyretics and painkillers may increase risk of spontaneous abortion, intrauterine growth retardation, preterm constriction of ductus arteriosus with secondary persistent pulmonary hypertension, reduced fetal renal perfusion that leads to oligohydramion, prolonged pregnancy, as well as selected congenital anomalies, including orofacial cleft, cardiovascular (i.e. ventricular septal defect, pulmonary valve stenosis) and neural tube defects (i.e., anophthalmia/microphthalmia, encephalocele, spina bifida), amniotic bands/limb body wall defects, and transverse limb deficiencies. However, other reports prove high prenatal tolerability or even beneficial effect in case of selected maternal sicknesses, especially influenza or disease with fever and thrombotic complications. The best advice for pregnant women is to avoid any xenobiotic, especially multidrug therapy, but in case OTC NSAIDs are needed they should be ingested in lowest..."

A first-in-class small-molecule inhibitor targeting AVIL exhibits safety and antitumor efficacy in preclinical models of glioblastoma.
(PubMed, Sci Transl Med)
- "Our laboratory recently identified the actin-binding protein advillin (AVIL) as being overexpressed, oncogenic, and necessary for tumorigenesis in GBM. Here, we further examined AVIL expression in GBMs and found that it was enriched across molecular subtypes and states, including GBM stem cells and temozolomide-resistant samples...In summary, we have identified an efficacious first-in-class compound targeting an oncogene in GBM. Further optimization of the molecule may offer an effective therapeutic intervention for GBM."
