REAL-WORLD RISK OF DRUG-INDUCED TUBULOINTERSTITIAL NEPHRITIS
(ISN-WCN 2026)
- "As shown in Figure 1a, 11 such drugs were identified: omeprazole, ibuprofen, pantoprazole, ciprofloxacin, pembrolizumab, nivolumab, vancomycin, carboplatin, pemetrexed, tacrolimus, and esomeprazole. The relationship between TIN and these suspected drugs is illustrated in the volcano plot (Figure 1a). Individuals aged over 60 years, male, or those who have taken 9 specific drugs including omeprazole are at a higher risk of developing DITIN. The findings of this study can provide important information for the early identification of drug-related acute interstitial nephritis and lay a foundation for future research on the pathogenesis of DITIN."

Single-Cell Transcriptomics Reveals Biomarkers for NK Cell Dysfunction in Endometriosis-Associated Immune Dysregulation.
(PubMed, Mediators Inflamm)
- "This study highlights the central role of NK-cell dysfunction in EM pathogenesis and proposes GNLY, PRF1, and ENTPD1 as potential molecular diagnostic biomarkers. Notably, ENTPD1 appears to have dual functions, including immunomodulation and promotion of stromal cell migration, which promotes lesion formation. These findings provide a mechanistic rationale and actionable targets for earlier screening and targeted therapy in EM."

Prevalence and predictors of analgesic use during early pregnancy in a Brazilian population.
(PubMed, Front Pharmacol)
- "Pregnant women up to 16 weeks of gestation (N = 275) were recruited in Curitiba, Brazil, and specifically asked about the use of paracetamol, dipyrone, ibuprofen, acetylsalicylic acid, and diclofenac, including common brand names and indications. Similarly, the use of pharmaceuticals other than analgesics was also positively associated with the heavy use of paracetamol (OR = 3.70; 95% CI = 1.08-12.74). Overall, the high prevalence of analgesic use during early pregnancy, particularly paracetamol and the combination of different analgesics, highlights the need for further research across different global regions and their potential implications for maternal and fetal health."

Engineered MnO2/UiO-66-x Heterostructure with Tailored Interfaces for Efficient Capture of NSAIDs: Performance and Mechanistic Insights.
(PubMed, Langmuir)
- "Structure-activity relationships indicated that NSAIDs adsorption efficiency (naproxen ≈ ibuprofen ≈ ketoprofen > indomethacin > paracetamol) was governed by molecular structure, size, and pKa values. This study establishes a new paradigm for metal-organic-framework-based adsorbent design through precise control of metal-organic interfaces and defect engineering. With 87% capacity retention after 5 regeneration cycles, MnO2/UiO-66-x shows strong potential for practical water remediation applications."

Validation of the DIOAC-GIB Model for Predicting Gastrointestinal Bleeding in Anticoagulated Patients: Comparison to the Alfalfa Models for Warfarin and DOACs
(THSNA 2026)
- "While they account for nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) use, they do not differentiate between specific NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and ketoprofen...Predictor variables included age; comorbidities; history of prior GIB or major bleeding; renal and hepatic impairment; thrombocytopenia; alcohol use; and medication exposures, including NSAIDs, serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSRI/SNRI), systemic corticosteroids, aspirin and antiplatelet agents, and gastrointestinal protective agents... The DIOAC-GIB model demonstrated stable predictive performance and clinically meaningful risk stratification. By incorporating detailed medication-specific risk coefficients—including individual NSAIDs, SSRIs, antiplatelets, corticosteroids, and gastroprotective therapy, DIOAC-GIB provides a nuanced, medication-responsive framework for estimating GIB risk in anticoagulated patients. Adverse events related to drug-drug interactions in tocilizumab combination therapy: a retrospective analysis and clinical implications.
(PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
- "The most significant DDI-related AEs identified for specific TCZ drug combinations were as follows: with DMARDs (e.g., methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine, and leflunomide), occurrence of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) positivity, hand deformity, and pemphigus were observed; with glucocorticoids (specifically prednisone), pemphigus, hand deformity, glossodynia, and pericarditis should be monitored; with NSAIDs (specifically diclofenac), heightened vigilance is warranted for anti-CCP positive, rheumatic fever, duodenal ulcer perforation, and Helicobacter infections. Age and sex influence DDI risks: adults (≥18 years) were more susceptible to infusion reactions with TCZ + hydroxychloroquine or TCZ + sulfasalazine, and to joint swelling with TCZ + naproxen. Male patients demonstrated a higher incidence of stomatitis with TCZ + methotrexate, and of joint swelling with TCZ + ibuprofen or TCZ + naproxen. Female patients were more susceptible to infusion-related reactions..."

ECPELLA SUPPORT IN FULMINANT VIRAL MYOCARDITIS: A BRIDGE IN CARDIOGENIC SHOCK
(ACC 2026)
- "Case: A 34-year-old previously healthy male was diagnosed with viral pericarditis after coxsackievirus infection and treated with ibuprofen and colchicine...Despite inotropic support with milrinone, he progressed to advanced cardiogenic shock...He developed sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT) requiring intravenous amiodarone, lidocaine, and temporary transvenous pacing at 90 bpm for overdrive suppression. He also received pulse intravenous methylprednisolone for 3 days and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)... This case underscores the rapid progression from outpatient viral myocarditis to fulminant myocarditis with cardiogenic shock requiring VA-ECMO and Impella support. EMB excluded acute inflammatory myocarditis, highlighting the role of biopsy, vigilance in follow-up, and multidisciplinary coordination to bridge young patients toward recovery or advanced heart failure therapies."
