Role of the Soft and Hard Segments Structure in Modifying the Performance of Acrylic Adhesives Modified by Polyurethane Macromonomers.
(PubMed, ACS Omega)
- "In this paper, PU macromonomers were prepared by a two-step synthesis method, using polypropylene glycol or polyethylene glycol with different molecular weights as soft segments and different types of diisocyanates: isophorone diisocyanate, hexamethylene diisocyanate, dicyclohexylmethylmethane diisocyanate (HMDI), 2,4-toluene diisocyanate (TDI), and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) and chain extenders as hard segments...Diols with a molecular weight of 600 have the best effect. Diisocyanates containing benzene rings can better improve the thermal performance of adhesives, where P MDI containing a biphenyl ring is the best, while aliphatic isocyanate groups have a greater improvement in adhesion performance, and the adhesion performance of P HDI with a long carbon chain is the best."

Quatramer™ encapsulation of dual-targeted PI3-Kδ/HDAC6 inhibitor, HSB-510, suppresses growth of breast cancer.
(PubMed, Bioeng Transl Med)
- "The present study investigates the encapsulation of a PI3-Kδ/HDAC6 dual inhibitor into hybrid block copolymers (polylactic acid-methoxy polyethylene glycol; polylactic acid-polyethylene glycol-polypropylene glycol-polyethylene glycol-polylactic acid) (HSB-510) as a delivery system to target PI3-Kδ and HDAC6 pathways in breast cancer cells. The treatment with HSB-510 was without any significant effect on the body weights of the mice. These results demonstrate that a novel Quatramer encapsulation of a PI3-Kδ/HDAC6 dual inhibitor (HSB-510) represents an approach for the successful targeting of breast cancer and potentially other cancer types."

Development of a Silicone-Based Polymer Matrix as a Suitable Transdermal Therapeutic System for Diallyl Disulfide.
(PubMed, Pharmaceuticals (Basel))
- "After the preparation of DADS, its solubility was investigated in different liquid excipients (propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, silicone oil) and its membrane diffusivity was assessed in silicone matrices of different compositions...The 8-day-old patch showed a significantly lower, but better-regulated, drug release over time than the 4-day-old one. In conclusion, the silicone-based polymer matrix developed in this study is suitable for stable storage and optimal release of DADS, providing a good basis for a TTS applied in chronic pain."

Glycolysis of semi-interpenetrated polymer network foam based on poly(vinyl chloride) for recovery and reuse of the individual components.
(PubMed, Waste Manag)
- "The parameters studied were reaction time (8 min to 3 h), temperature (155 to 200 °C), catalyst (potassium acetate or dibutyl tin dilaurate (DBTL)), glycol (ethylene glycol, 1,4 butanediol, diethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, polyethylene glycol), as well as the effect of PVC thermal stabilizers such as hindered phenols and organo-phosphites...The greatest part of the crosslinked portion (≥90 %) was depolymerized and the result were mainly hydroxyl- and in minor amount amine- terminated oligomers. The recovered PVC (purity roughly 90 %) had a low degree of degradation and a viscosity suitable for its processing as thermoplastic material, i.e. by injection moulding."

Injectable selenium-containing polymeric hydrogel formulation for effective treatment of myocardial infarction.
(PubMed, Front Bioeng Biotechnol)
- "In details, an injectable selenium-containing polymeric hydrogel, namely, poly[di-(1-hydroxylyndecyl) selenide/polypropylene glycol/polyethylene glycol urethane] [poly(DH-SE/PEG/PPG urethane)], was synthesised by combining a thermosensitive PPG block, DH-Se (which has oxidation-reduction properties), and hydrophilic PEG segments...At the same time, we confirmed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, Masson staining and Western blotting that this formulation could inhibit inflammation and fibrosis, so as to significantly improve left ventricular remodelling. In summary, a selenium-containing polymeric hydrogel formulation analysed in the current study could be a promising therapeutic formulation, which can provide new strategies towards the effective treatment of myocardial infarction or even other inflammatory diseases."

Development of Antifouling Polysulfone Membranes by Synergistic Modification with Two Different Additives in Casting Solution and Coagulation Bath: Synperonic F108 and Polyacrylic Acid.
(PubMed, Materials (Basel))
- "The efficient simple and reproducible technique of PSF membrane modification to increase antifouling performance by simultaneous addition of triblock copolymer polyethylene glycol-polypropylene glycol-polyethylene glycol (Synperonic F108, M =14 × 10 g mol) to the casting solution and addition of polyacrylic acid (PAA, M = 250 × 10 g mol) to the coagulation bath is proposed for the first time...Membrane modification with PAA results in higher ThMP process water flux, fouling recovery ratio, and hemicellulose and total lignin rejection compared to the reference PSF/Synperonic F108 membrane. This suggests the possibility of applying the developed membranes for hemicellulose concentration and purification."

On the Biocompatibility and Teat Retention of In Situ Gelling Intramammary Formulations: Cattle Mastitis Prevention and Treatment.
(PubMed, Pharmaceutics)
- "Concentration-dependent cytotoxicity was observed for glycerin, propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol 400, ethanol, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and 2-pyrrolidone, with the 2-pyrrolidone solvents showing higher cytotoxic effects (p < 0.05). In situ gelling formulations comprising hydroxypropyl methylcellulose or carboxymethyl cellulose and solvents in specific ratios were biocompatible at higher concentrations with MAC-T cells compared to alginates. All investigated formulations could undergo in situ sol-to-gel phase transformation, forming non-toxic gels with good biocompatibility in excised cow teats hence, showing potential for use as intramammary carriers for sustained drug delivery."
