Risk of liver dysfunction with ACE inhibitors based on real-world data from the MID-NET® in Japan.
(PubMed, Hypertens Res)
- "To compare the risk of liver dysfunction between the control group (enalapril maleate) and each exposure group, a pairwise Cox proportional hazards model was employed to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) adjusted by inverse probability weighting based on the high-dimensional propensity score...Compared with the control group, the HRs (95% confidence interval) were 1.37(0.79-2.38) for captopril, 0.71(0.33-1.54) for alacepril, 0.72(0.55-0.93) for imidapril hydrochloride, 1.08(0.86-1.34) for perindopril erbumine, and 0.69(0.52-0.91) for lisinopril hydrate. The risk of liver dysfunction with ACE inhibitors is unlikely to be a class-effect. Although continuous safety monitoring is necessary for promoting proper use of ACE inhibitors, the results indicate that no additional safety measures are currently required for ACE inhibitors that do not carry a liver dysfunction-related warning in Japan."

Potential Interaction between Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate and Prescription Drugs in Artificial Intestinal Juice.
(PubMed, Chem Pharm Bull (Tokyo))
- "This study evaluated the interaction between sodium polystyrene sulfonate (SPS) and several commonly used concomitant drugs, such as carvedilol, bisoprolol, imidapril, atorvastatin and azilsartan. Our results show that the residual rate of adsorption of carvedilol and bisoprolol increases with increasing concentration of potassium ions whereas adsorption of potassium ions onto SPS was unaffected by carvedilol and bisoprolol under our experimental conditions. Finally, the obtained results revealed that interactions between SPS and carvedilol or bisoprolol readily occur in artificial intestinal juice."

In silico and in vitro screening for carcinogenic potential of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and their degradation impurities.
(PubMed, Toxicol Appl Pharmacol)
- "Delapril, enalapril, imidapril, lisinopril, moexipril, perindopril, ramipril, trandolapril, spirapril were thereby analyzed. The other compounds of concern (spirapril, moexipril and all DKP derivatives) should be subjected to analogous in vitro studies. We also concluded that the adopted in silico software was applicable for ACE-I toxicity prediction."

Angioedema Caused by Drugs That Prevent the Degradation of Vasoactive Peptides: A Pharmacovigilance Database Study.
(PubMed, J Clin Med)
- "Of the patients treated with DPP-4 inhibitors, four developed drug-induced angioedema in combination with ACE inhibitors, and all were taking vildagliptin. Signals were detected for enalapril (IC: 2.39, 95% CI: 2.06 to 2.71), imidapril (IC: 2.83, 95% CI: 2.38 to 3.27), lisinopril (IC: 2.28, 95% CI: 1.55 to 3.00), temocapril (IC: 1.35, 95% CI: 0.29 to 2.40), and trandolapril (IC: 1.57, 95% CI: 0.19 to 2.95)...However, no signal of angioedema was detected with the DPP-4 inhibitors, in contrast to some ACE inhibitors. This study found that ACE inhibitors and DPP-4 inhibitors, which inhibit the degradation of substance P and bradykinin, tended to have different effects on the onset of angioedema in clinical practice."

Bleeding associated with co-administration of clopidogrel and ACEi in patients undergoing PCI and DAPT.
(PubMed, Atherosclerosis)
- "The coadministration of an ACEi with clopidogrel after PCI is common. In this real-world cohort study, such coadministration was not associated with an increased risk of major bleeding in patients undergoing DAPT after PCI."
