Hyaluronic Acid Combined with Diluted and Hyperdiluted Calcium Hydroxylapatite to Treat the Periocular Area.
(PubMed, Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol)
- "For most patients, results varied according to the dilution of the blend; lower dilutions (1:1) lasted longer than higher dilution (1:4), even though results were still noticeable for patients treated with the latter (1:4) at the 1-year evaluation. This study validates the use of a HA and CaHA blend (CaHA-CPM) for periocular rejuvenation, addressing various aging symptoms in this complex facial region."

Proposing a New Classification for Managing Prostaglandin-Induced Enophthalmos in Glaucoma Patients.
(PubMed, Clin Ophthalmol)
- "It included a two-phase approach: (1) classification of enophthalmos using clinical and radiological measures to create a composite PAPS score; and (2) evaluation of treatment options, including Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CAHY) injections and autologous fat grafting...We propose a novel composite scoring system integrating six clinical parameters to stratify patients and tailor a minimally invasive therapeutic approach using calcium hydroxyapatite fillers and autologous fat grafting to restore orbital volume, improve eyelid aesthetics, and reduce complications. This classification system may serve as a clinical tool in patients with persistent or advanced PAPS who seek cosmetic correction or relief from functional symptoms."

Post-Operative Stridor in an Asymptomatic Myasthenia Gravis Patient After Sugamaddex Reversal Treated with Neostigmine
(ASA 2025)
- "He had general anesthesia with rocuronium for paralysis and sugammadex for reversal. Elderly male with history of myasthenia gravis (diagnosed 2011 - recently weaned off of Azathioprine) who underwent thyroidectomy (2014) and found to have vocal cord paralysis with bowing. He was scheduled for microlaryngoscopy with injection of calcium hydroxylapatite due to worsening dysphonia. PACU course was complicated by stridor that partially responded to racemic epinephrine and lidocaine nebulizers. There was concern for myasthenic crisis, so he was challenged with neostigmine/glycopyrrolate, which significantly improved his voice strength and oxygen requirement. Consider acetylcholinesterase inhibitors for inadequate reversal of myasthenia gravis patients."

The Price of Beauty: Analyzing Medical Malpractice Cases Related to Dermal Fillers
(PSTM 2025)
- "Silicone was the most frequently cited filler (n=4), followed by Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane, and Sculptra (all n=3). Medical malpractice cases involving dermal fillers mainly favored defendants. Most defendants were aesthetic specialized physicians, though some lacked medical licenses or board certification in aesthetic specialties. Cases involving unqualified injectors or allegations of battery or fraud had higher odds of plaintiff verdicts or settlements."

Who's Injecting You? Assessing Provider Credentials Among Manhattan's Aesthetic Injectors
(PSTM 2025)
- "First, providers were located through the "Find a Provider" feature on the official websites of dermal filler brands, including Bellafill, Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane, RHA, Belotero, and Sculptra, with search parameters set to Manhattan, New York, and within a 5-mile radius. Our review of the top online results for aesthetic injectors in Manhattan reveals a wide variation in provider qualifications. Although most clinics are physician-owned, a notable number were founded by non-physicians that often lacked on-site doctor or employed non-aesthetic board certified specialists with limited credential transparency. These findings potentiate the need for greater regulatory oversight and consumer education in cosmetic injections."

Evaluating the Efficacy of Dermal Fillers for Hand Rejuvenation: A Systematic Review
(PSTM 2025)
- "The following keywords were used: filler, hyaluronic acid, dermal filler, calcium hydroxyapatite, L-lactic acid, Restylane Lyft, Radiesse, hand rejuvenation, volume, aging, and veins... Using fillers for hand rejuvenation is an effective approach, with high patient satisfaction as per GAIS and low complication rates. Improvements in the MGHS suggest fillers successfully restore hand volume and provide aesthetic outcomes at long-term follow-up."

Filler Up! Key Quality and Safety Considerations in Non-Cosmetic Applications of Soft-Tissue Fillers in Otolaryngology
(AAO-HNSF 2025)
- "Starting in 2003 with Restylane, hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers led the way, sparking a wave of innovation that now includes over 20 FDA-approved formulations for aesthetic use. Beyond hyaluronic acid, the filler market also includes calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid, and polymethylmethacrylate microspheres, each with distinct properties tailored for specific applications. While fillers are well-established in cosmetic practices, their non-cosmetic applications are recently gaining more prominence in otolaryngology...Additionally, autologous fat grafting, as a potentially more permanent alternative, will be addressed. Panelists will also examine the potential risks associated with these products and discuss best practices for complication management.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Review the development, properties, and regulatory approval of various soft-tissue fillers and their implications for clinical use.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Examine the non-aesthetic applications of..."

Chronic facial abscess mimicking cervicofacial actinomyces from dermal filler migration
(SID 2025)
- "Composed of materials such as hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), these fillers provide long-lasting results with minimal recovery time...Treatment for PMMA-based filler reactions relies on adequate excision as noted in this case, but may respond to intralesional steroids. Although PMMA-fillers are not widely used, the need to consider reactions to these could provide valuable insight into the recognition and management of chronic, non-healing wounds of the head and neck."

Direct comparison of molecular effects of PLLA-SCA and CaHA-R in a standardized human 3D skin model containing macrophages
(SID 2025)
- "Modern bio-stimulatory fillers like poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA; Sculptra) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA-R; Radiesse) induce the synthesis of major structural components of the extracellular matrix such as collagen...Our data provide novel molecular insights into the bio-stimulatory effects of PLLA-SCA and CaHA-R on collagen production using 3D skin models comprising macrophages. Due to their special properties, these new in vitro models could also be used in future for research into fibrosing skin disorders."
