The rise of bulbar symptom burden in the second decade of oropharyngeal cancer survivorship: A 10-year longitudinal survey study (AHNS 2026) - "446 long-term survivors treated for their index OPC 2000 to 2013 participated in survivorship surveys in 2015 (median survival 6.3 years, range 1-15.7) and 2025 (median survival 16.0 years, range 11.6–26.1)... Overall, symptom severity worsened over the decade (MDASI severity: 2015 mean = 0.81±1.11, 2025 mean = 1.04±1.32, Δ = +0.23, p<0.001) as did symptom interference (MDASI interference: 2015 mean = 0.74±1.50, 2025 mean = 1.17±1.77, Δ = +0.43, p<0.001). Symptom severity worsened in the largest magnitude for bulbar items including MDASI-choke (Δ mean = 1.49, 95% CI 1.21–1.77; p<0.001; choke≥5: 11.3%→29.6%), MDASI-chew/swallow (Δ mean = 1.48, 95% CI 1.20–1.76; p<0.001; chew/swallow≥5: 16.5%→34.6%), and MDASI-voice/speech (Δ mean = 1.28, 95% CI 1.03–1.54; p<0.001; p<0.001; voice/speech≥5: 7.5%→22.3%). Rising pancreatic adenocarcinoma and type 2 diabetes mellitus related mortality in the United States, 2000-2024, with forecasts to 2034 (BSG 2026) - "Overall AAMR ( figure 1 ) increased from 2.39 (95% CI 2.16–2.61) in 2000 to 9.17 (8.81–9.52) in 2024 (APC 2000–2009: 5.47%; 2012–2024: 8.13%). Conclusions Mortality from concurrent pancreatic adenocarcinoma and T2DM has risen, with marked disparities by sex, race, age, and region, and the projected increase underscores the need for targeted prevention and early detection in high-risk diabetic populations. Assessment of the radiological health hazards around mine sites in Jos Area, Nigeria. (PubMed, Environ Geochem Health) - "The activity concentration of 40K, 226Ra and 232Th in 24 mine wastes and 36 soil samples collected from farmlands adjoining the selected mine sites were determined by using a gamma-ray spectrometer fully equipped with an MPC 2000 radiation counter...The different hazard indices show a potential source of high radiological exposure. The findings indicate serious radiological health and environmental risks, requiring strict policy interventions, safer mining practices, remediation plans, and restrictions on the utilization of these mine wastes in construction and farming."

Trends, Sociodemographic and Clinical Factors Associated with Avascular Necrosis and Related Arthroplasties in Hospitalized Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Rheumatoid Arthritis (ACR Convergence 2023) - "In contrast, there was an initial increase followed by a tendency to decline in SLE-AVN (APC 2000-2011: 1.96* APC 2011-2019 -2.05), with a decrease in the proportion of arthroplasties over time (APC -2.03*, Figure 2 ). Imaging the In Vivo Degradation of Tissue Engineering Implants by Use of Supramolecular Radiopaque Biomaterials. (PubMed, Macromol Biosci) - "For this purpose, a biodegradable radiopaque biomaterial is presented, modularly composed of a bisurea chain-extended polycaprolactone (PCL2000-U4U) elastomer and a novel iodinated bisurea-modified CA additive (I-U4U)...(Immuno)histochemistry shows comparable cellular contents and a similar neo-tissue formation process for test and control group, demonstrating that the CA does not have apparent adverse effects. A supramolecular approach to create solid radiopaque biomaterials can therefore be used to noninvasively monitor the biodegradation of synthetic implants."
