Targeted hysteroscopic methotrexate injection for caesarean scar pregnancy: insights from a single-center case series
(ESGE 2025)
- "A 3.7F Deflux metal needle was introduced into the myometrial tissue at four separate points around the implantation site...Moreover, it enabled high local drug concentrations while minimizing the risk of intra- and post-operative bleeding. Further studies with larger cohorts are required to assess long-term fertility and pregnancy outcomes."

The Deflux Injection Reduced the Incidence of Urinary Tract Infections in Children with Vesicoureteral Reflux
(UAA 2025)
- "The Deflux injection could reduce the incidence of febrile urinary tract infections in children with vesicoureteral reflux. The Deflux injection affords a choice of bridge therapy between conservative and surgical treatment for vesicoureteral reflux."

Long-Term Effectiveness of Onabotulinum Toxin-A in a Combined Total Endoscopic Management of Pediatric Vesicoureteral Reflux in Neurogenic Bladder Dysfunction.
(PubMed, Toxins (Basel))
- "Total endoscopic management (TEM), combining intradetrusor Onabotulinum Toxin-A (BTX-A) and subureteric dextranomer/hyaluronic acid (Deflux(R)) injection, offers a minimally invasive alternative. Mean follow-up: 3.2 years (range 1-4.7). In selected patients, TEM appears to be a safe and effective strategy, potentially delaying or avoiding major reconstructive surgery."

Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Female Artificial Urinary Sphincter: An Underutilized Tool for Severe Stress Urinary Incontinence
(AUA 2025)
- "The patient reported leakage throughout her entire childhood and adult life despite multiple bladder neck and urethral bulking with Deflux... AUS in females with severe SUI provides a long-term efficacious solution over repeat sling and bulking procedures, especially in patients with history of multiple interventions. Robotic surgery provides significant advantages in placement of the AUS due to excellent optics, decreased risk of infection, and improved time to recovery. Therefore, robotic female AUS is an important treatment option for severe female SUI and should be considered earlier in the algorithm for female SUI."

Vesicoureteral reflux of a solitary kidney treated with endoscopic injection therapy comprising tandem injections administered with the assistance of a ureteral guidewire in a young girl.
(PubMed, Urol Case Rep)

Factors Influencing Success in Endoscopic Treatment of Grade 4-5 Primary Vesicoureteric Reflux (VUR) in Infancy and Childhood.
(PubMed, J Pediatr Surg)
- "Endoscopic Dx/HA injection is a safe first-line, day-case treatment for Grade 4-5 VUR in children of any age, with a low complication rate. Two-thirds of patients are asymptomatic after one injection; 84 % do not require further procedures after one injection, and 98 % after 2 injections."

Rectal Prolapse in the Pediatric Population.
(PubMed, Curr Gastroenterol Rep)
- "15% hypertonic saline, 50% dextrose, and Deflux are additional safe alternatives...Transabdominal rectopexy with sigmoidectomy, the recommended operation in the adult population for patients with prolapse and constipation, appears only to be preferred in the pediatric population for postoperative recurrences. While outcomes of medical treatment for pediatric rectal prolapse are excellent, sclerotherapy and transabdominal rectopexy are effective options for refractory disease preferred by most pediatric surgeons."

Asymmetrical primary vesicoureteral reflux: Which is the best surgical strategy?
(PubMed, J Pediatr Urol)
- "The combined Lich-Gregoir extra-vesical ureteral reimplantation and sub-ureteric Deflux® injection for the treatment of primary asymmetrical VUR is an effective alternative to the gold standard cross-trigonal ureteral reimplantation. Moreover, the position of the ureteric orifice is not modified in the eventuality of endourological procedures into adulthood."

Recurrence of vesico-ureteral reflux in children: is still the endoscopic injection the best option?
(PubMed, Transl Androl Urol)
- "Thanks to its low costs and the acceptable recurrence rate, Deflux EI should be proposed as the first therapeutic approach for children affected by VUR, especially in those with low and moderate grades of VUR. Multiple injections could be contraindicated only in older children thank 1 year with high-grade VUR (IV symptomatic and V grade)."

Vantris vs. deflux for treatment of paediatric vesicoureteral reflux: Efficacy and obstruction risk.
(PubMed, Fr J Urol)
- "Despite a similar success rate after PPC and Dx/Ha injections for endoscopic treatment of VUR, there may be a greater risk of postoperative ureteral obstruction after PPC injections. The benefit of using PPC to prevent febrile UTI and renal scarring in children with low-grade VUR does not seem to outweigh the risk of chronic ureteral obstruction."

The Effectiveness of Deflux® Treatment for Vesicoureteral Reflux Following Pediatric Renal Transplantation: A Single-Institution Challenging Experience.
(PubMed, J Pediatr Surg)

Superior performance of biofilm versus planktonic Limosilactobacillus reuteri in protection of the intestines and brain in a piglet model of necrotizing enterocolitis.
(PubMed, Sci Rep)
- "We previously developed a novel probiotic delivery system in which planktonic (free-living) Limosilactobacillus reuteri (Lr) is incubated with biocompatible dextranomer microspheres (DM) loaded with maltose (Lr-DM-maltose) to induce biofilm formation...Furthermore, there was a significant decrease in the incidence of D-NEC between piglets treated with Lr-DM-maltose compared to planktonic Lr. These findings validate our previous results in rodents, and support future clinical trials of Lr in its biofilm state for the prevention of NEC in premature neonates."

Correlation between gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) lung volumes and exacerbation of bronchial asthma: Italian pilot observational retrospective study GERDAS.
(PubMed, Monaldi Arch Chest Dis)
- "The aim of this clinical study is to show how the addition of a particular type of alginate (Deflux plus sachets) containing hyaluronic acid and melatonin at low doses administered over a prolonged period of six months, causes a reduction in vagal reflex stimulation of the oesophagus and pulmonary microaspiration reflexes by regulating lower oesophageal sphincter (LES) motility in asthmatic patients; improving the ACT score (asthma control test score). In the reported statistical analysis, ROC curves were performed for sensitivity and specificity for the analysed parameters, including the ACT score with statistically significant data p<0.0001. We conclude that the combination of conventional therapy for reflux asthma associated with alginates may improve the risk of acute asthma exacerbation and dynamic lung volumes."

LOW RISK OF SECONDARY TREATMENT AFTER ENDOSCOPIC INJECTION OF VUR USING THE DOUBLE HIT METHOD: ANALYSIS OF 3059 PROCEDURES OVER 19 YEARS
(AUA 2023)
- "The objective of our study is to report our experience for additional Deflux (Dx/HA) injections after first injection failure... Endoscopic injection of a bulking agent to correct VUR has a high success rate, comparable to ureteral reimplantation. In our experience, primary injection with the double HIT method has a low chance of secondary treatment and supports its use as a first line option for children with primary VUR."
