Nutritionally physiological cell culture medium and 3D culture influence breast tumour proteomics and anti-cancer drug effectiveness.
(PubMed, Pharmacol Res)
- "The number of differentially expressed proteins in the different media was greater in 2D than 3D. We conclude that the risk of qualifying inactive compounds in preclinical assessment may be mitigated using additional models incorporating physiological media and 3-dimensionality."

Actions of Camptothecin Derivatives on Larvae and Adults of the Arboviral Vector Aedes aegypti.
(PubMed, Molecules)
- "We identified rubitecan (a synthetic derivative of camptothecin) as a hit compound that reduced A. aegypti larval motility...Camptothecin and its derivatives are inhibitors of topoisomerase I, have known activity against several agricultural pests, and are also approved for the treatment of several cancers. Crucially, they can inhibit Zika virus replication in human cells, so there is potential for dual targeting of both the vector and an important arbovirus that it carries."

PARP inhibition suppresses topoisomerase 1 poisoning induced Caspase-3 dependent cell death in zebrafish embryos.
(PubMed, Biochem Biophys Res Commun)
- "We show that Top1 poisoning by rubitecan induces caspase mediated apoptosis which was reduced by PARP inhibitor olaparib in zebrafish embryo. Collectively our data introduces zebrafish as a valuable model for PARP related biomedical research."
