Role of Topical Fumagillin 0.007% in the Management of Microsporidial Stromal Keratitis: Interventional Pilot Study with Literature Review.
(PubMed, Ocul Immunol Inflamm)
- "This pilot study investigated medical management, evaluating outcomes using topical fumagillin alone or in combination with topical voriconazole and oral albendazole. Clinical resolution occurred in all cases after 9.4 ± 5.2 months of treatment, with no recurrence over a 12.6 ± 3.4-month follow-up. The findings of this study support the potential of medical management for MSK, suggesting that topical fumagillin 0.007% may offer a viable treatment option for mild to moderate cases."

Bony Hydatidosis of Femur Head - A Rare Case Report.
(PubMed, J Orthop Case Rep)
- "The patient was started on albendazole and after 3 months, surgical curettage and removal of cysts were performed with application of bone cement...High index of suspicion in endemic areas is required along with radiological and laboratory investigation to confirm the diagnosis. Timely and proper management can completely cure the patient without any residual pathology with full functional recovery."

Successful Treatment of Concurrent Cholangiohydatidosis with Obstructive Jaundice and Hepatothoracic Transit in a Pediatric Patient.
(PubMed, European J Pediatr Surg Rep)
- "Perioperative albendazole and antibiotic therapy was administered...Clinical presentation and laboratory findings are not specific and may simulate an obstructive jaundice and acute cholangitis of other etiology. ERCP with endoscopic papillotomy offers the advantage of a minimally invasive surgery, but it does not allow a definitive treatment of the whole problem and may be useful as a bridge procedure to drain the bile duct while awaiting definitive surgery."

PEDIATRIC LIVER CYSTIC ECHINOCOCCOSIS IN KAZAKHSTAN
(ESPID 2025)
- "All patients underwent surgical treatment. The 23 patients did not receive albendazole (ABZ) after surgery. The duration of ABZ treatment was 28 days. Conclusions/Learning Points Understanding cyst stages is crucial for clinical, epidemiological, and economic reasons. The clinical management of CE in children in Kazakhstan could be enhanced by adopting the WHO-IWGE stepwise approach, potentially reducing the need for surgical intervention in uncomplicated cases."

Moxidectin combination therapies for lymphatic filariasis: an open-label, observer-masked, randomised controlled trial.
(PubMed, Lancet Infect Dis)
- P3 | "In this study, single-dose MoxA was superior to IA for W bancrofti microfilaria clearance at 12 months and provided prolonged microfilaria clearance for most participants. These results suggest that MoxA could be a powerful tool to accelerate the elimination of lymphatic filariasis in Africa."

(PubMed, Iran J Basic Med Sci)
- "Additionally, after 60 days, the nanoemulsion containing albendazole showed 100% survival, while the survival rate was 50% for free albendazole, 75% for nanoemulsion without albendazole, and 37.5% for PBS. The nanoemulsion containing albendazole can be a promising treatment for hydatid cysts."

Diagnosis and management of a rare case of isolated myocysticercosis of biceps brachii muscle: a case report.
(PubMed, Ann Med Surg (Lond))
- "The cyst was eliminated via excision, followed by albendazole medication. Through this case report, we highlighted the approaches to therapy of myocysticercosis when the patient came with pain and swelling all over the body, particularly in an endemic location. Through this case report we highlight that it is important to consider the possibility of intramuscular cysticercosis, particularly in endemic regions when a patient presents with a swelling on their body."

Double Trouble on the Lower Leg-Unique Human Coinfection with Echinococcus granulosus and Echinococcus multilocularis Without Liver Involvement.
(PubMed, Pathogens)
- "Albendazole therapy was started, and extensive surgical excision was performed. Both species were confirmed using PCR and sequencing from intraoperative samples. The current case shows that coinfection without liver involvement can occur, even in patients from low-incidence regions, which should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients with unusual clinical presentation."

Silibinin enhanced the efficacy of albendazole in treating the muscular phase of experimental trichinellosis.
(PubMed, Trop Anim Health Prod)
- "The most significant improvements were recorded in the combined treatment group with a reduction rate of 69.95%, a significant reduction of inflammatory infiltrates (p < 0.05), and significant modulation of PDL1 local expression (p < 0.05). So, Silibinin (the major active ingredient of SM) showed anti-trichinellosis activity and enhanced the efficacy of ABZ against the muscular phase of the infection."

(PubMed, Am J Trop Med Hyg)
- "Treatment was administered in 105 cases (98.1%), with albendazole used in 88 (83.8%), ivermectin in nine (8.6%), mebendazole in six (5.7%), and two cases lacking drug information (1.9%). A thorough epidemiological assessment, along with a detailed medical history and physical examination, facilitates early diagnosis and treatment. Currently, ivermectin and albendazole appear to achieve the highest cure rates with lower recurrence rates."

Alendronate repositioning as potential anti-parasitic agent targeting Trichinella spiralis inorganic pyrophosphatase, in vitro supported molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation study.
(PubMed, BMC Chem)
- "Moreover, molecular dynamics simulation, through the analysis of RMSD, RMSF, RG, SASA and cluster analysis, proved the prolonged effective inhibition of ALN on T. spiralis inorganic pyrophosphatase, as an essential surface protein required for molting and developmental process of intestinal larval stages. Thus, ALN might be a valuable drug candidate for the treatment of trichinellosis and warrant further investigation in animal models of disease."

Uncommon Presentation of Pulmonary Echinococcosis With a Bacterial Superinfection in a Non-endemic Region
(ATS 2025)
- "The patient was discharged on a course of amoxicillin-clavulanic acid with close follow-up. Upon follow-up, echinococcal serology was positive, eosinophilia had resolved, and albendazole therapy was initiated for suspected echinococcal cyst...Peripheral eosinophilia can be a helpful diagnostic tool when evaluating for cyst spillage, as it is not typically expected in uncomplicated cysts nor pyogenic abscesses. This case highlights the importance of considering rare parasitic infections, even in non-endemic regions, as increased immigration can lead to increased prevalence of tropical diseases, even when initial diagnoses seem straightforward."

The Sleeping Beauty: Pulmonary Echinococcosis Manifesting After Two Decades of Dormancy
(ATS 2025)
- "Postoperatively, she was treated with albendazole for 12 months, due to the risk of recurrence or dissemination...This case underscores the complexity of diagnosing pulmonary echinococcosis in non-endemic areas, especially with negative serology. Echinococcal serological tests have limited sensitivity, especially in patients with isolated pulmonary involvement. The prolonged latency period in this patient suggests that E. granulosus can remain dormant for extended periods, only manifesting clinically decades after last exposure."
