Experience in the Treatment of Toxic Adenomas Using Percutaneous Ablation Techniques in a Tertiary Care Unit
(ENDO 2025)
- "15 (88.2%) were treated with thiamazole and 7 (41.2%) with propranolol. 11(64.7%) were treated with chemical ablation (CA) with ethanol and polidocanol and 6(35.3%) with radiofrequency thermal ablation (RFT)... PA treatment represents an effective and safe alternative treatment for patients with TA. The greater volume reduction through RFT suggests better efficiency, but it is dependent on the learning curve."

Marine-Lenhart Syndrome: Case Report
(ENDO 2025)
- "Thiamazole 30 mg/d and propranolol 20 mg/d were started. Percutaneous ablation of RTN was performed with 3% polidocanol 2 ml plus ethanol 1.5 ml and 8 mg intrathyroidal dexamethasone was administered in LTL... MLS is rare, but given the nature of the pathology, minimally invasive techniques can be implemented in its management combined with antithyroids to increase therapeutic efficacy."

Single-needle percutaneous foamed sclerotherapy using ultrasound and fluoroscopy guidance using "contrast washout technique" for the treatment of a slow-flow chest wall vascular malformation in a pediatric patient.
(PubMed, J Surg Case Rep)
- "We present the case of a 7-year-old child with a large, slow-flow VM on the right anterior chest wall, successfully treated with ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided foam sclerotherapy using polidocanol via the ``contrast washout'' technique. The procedure resulted in significant lesion resolution with no post-procedural pain. In addition to its effectiveness, this approach also spares patients from extensive surgical interventions, making it a valuable treatment option for pediatric VMs."

Targeted Pre-Conditioning and Cell Transplantation in the Murine Lower Respiratory Tract.
(PubMed, Am J Respir Cell Mol Biol)
- "The detergent polidocanol was adapted for distal lung pre-conditioning, inducing intrapulmonary airway epithelial denudation by 5 and 24-hours post-delivery...These findings demonstrate the utility of bronchoscopically targeted pre-conditioning and cell delivery to the conducting intra-pulmonary airways. Thus providing an important framework for pre-clinical translation of approaches for engineered airway epithelial regeneration."

Targeted Pre-conditioning and Cell Transplantation in the Murine Lower Respiratory Tract
(ATS 2025)
- "Our group has successfully transplanted mouse primary or pluripotent stem cell (PSC)-derived basal cells into the tracheas of syngeneic recipient mice post-polidocanol (PDOC) injury... We find evidence of engraftment of primary tracheal BCs throughout the intrapulmonary airways but also within the alveolar space. This finding highlights the need for robust translational, pre-clinical models for cellular therapeutics within the lung to pair pre-conditioning and donor cell type for engraftment into the intended niche while minimizing off target injury or engraftment."

(ESPGHAN 2025)
- "Many agents are used in adult (e.g ethanolamine oleate, polidocanol, 99% alccohol) but not suitable and effective in infants...We are preparing patient for Living donar liver transplant. Conclusions Dextrose 50% works well as a sclerosing agents for bleeding oesophageal varices ."

(PubMed, Cureus)
- "We report a case of a 40-year-old woman with Fitzpatrick skin type II, who developed longstanding hyperpigmentation in the right popliteal area following polidocanol sclerotherapy...Notable pigment clearance, full crust exfoliation, and restoration of normal skin tone were achieved without adverse effects. Independent expert evaluation and patient-reported outcomes confirmed the treatment's efficacy and high tolerability."

Introducing the carbon footprint reduction index (CaFRI) as a software-supported tool for greener laboratories in chemical analysis.
(PubMed, BMC Chem)
- "Case studies using techniques such as spectrophotometry for polidocanol in ampoules, dispersive solid phase microextraction with HPLC/UV for ritonavir in human plasma, carbon quantum dots for molnupiravir in capsules, and homogenous liquid-liquid microextraction with HPLC/UV for favipiravir in human plasma demonstrated CaFRI's applicability in evaluating the carbon footprint across diverse analytical methods and matrices. These case studies illustrated that energy consumption and CO2 emissions are key criteria for CaFRI scores, with higher scores indicating more sustainable methods."

OPTIMAL INTERVAL FOR ARGON PLASMA COAGULATION FOLLOWING ENDOSCOPIC INJECTION SCLEROTHERAPY IN ESOPHAGEAL VARICES
(DDW 2025)
- "Background and Aim: The first-line treatment of esophageal varices (EV) in Japan is endoscopic injection sclerotherapy (EIS), and EIS with intra-variceal injection of ethanolamine oleate (EO) and para-variceal injection of polidocanol (aethoxysklerol: AS) is followed by argon plasma coagulation (APC) consolidation... Our findings suggest that APC consolidation following EIS is optimally performed as an outpatient procedure at least 15 days post-EIS to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospitalization duration."

(PubMed, Phlebology)
- "Sclerothrombus samples were generated in vitro following incubation of whole blood or platelet-rich plasma with detergent sclerosants sodium tetradecyl sulphate (STS) or polidocanol (POL)...SVT contained a smooth fibrin mesh of relatively thick fibrin strands with scarce branching and fewer microparticles.ConclusionThe three entities of sclerothrombus, sclerocoagulum and SVT are distinct and distinguishable entities. Whilst sclerothrombus and SVT demonstrate features of a fibrin clot, sclerocoagulum is haemolysed blood containing disorganised fibrin strands."

Complications and recurrence rates following aspiration sclerotherapy for adult hydrocele and spermatocele in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area
(AUA 2025)
- "Sclerosant used was in 97% of the cases polidocanol... Aspiration sclerotherapy is a safe treatment for adult hydrocele and spermatocele, with a low rate of complications. However, multiple treatments are often required, and surgery may sometimes be necessary. The retrospective design and loss to follow-up limit the certainty of these results."
