Morphological features of the great saphenous vein in patients with chronic venous disease of the lower extremities undergoing the most common endovenous treatment techniques.
(PubMed, Pol Merkur Lekarski)
- " The severity of structural changes in the great saphenous vein in patients with chronic venous disease of the lower extremities following ultrasoundguided microfoam sclerotherapy was significantly lower compared to endovenous high-frequency electric welding in automatic mode and endovenous laser ablation, resulting in less favorable conditions for the qualitative development of the fibrous process."

Use of Sclerotherapy in the Treatment of Intranasal Hemangiomas: Case Report and Review of the Literature
(AAOMS 2025)
- "Polidocanol is often preferred for smaller, superficial lesions due to its milder effects, while bleomycin is used for slow-flow vascular malformations with a favorable safety profile. This case report describes a 52-year-old female with a nasal hemangioma severe enough to obstruct her right nostril. PMID: 26723834. Photo after sclerotherapy treatment Photo before sclerotherapy treatment"

Evaluation of Chemical Ablation in Benign Thyroid Nodules: Experience in a Mexican Cohort
(ATA 2025)
- "Patient records were reviewed to assess outcomes following treatment with lauromacrogol or polidocanol.ResultsA total of 26 patients (22 women [84.6%] and 4 men [15.4%]) were followed for a median of 10.5 months (range: 1–30 months)...It demonstrated a high success rate and significant volume reduction rate in most patients. Compared to more invasive treatments like surgery or radiofrequency ablation, chemical ablation offers a cost-effective alternative with lower risk of complications and overtreatment."

Transdermal radiofrequency (V ERASER®) plus polidocanol sclerotherapy versus polidocanol sclerotherapy alone for the treatment of reticular veins and telangiectasias. A randomized controlled trial (TYPER trial).
(PubMed, Phlebology)
- "Quality of life improved, with pain reduction in 40% and 55% of patients in the right and left lower limbs, respectively (p = .030 and p = .002).ConclusionTransdermal radiofrequency was not superior to standard of care polidocanol sclerotherapy. Both methods improved quality of life, particularly in reducing pain associated with varicose veins."

Therapeutic efficacy of the polidocanol versus pingyangmycin in the treatment of maxillofacial vascular disorders.
(PubMed, Phlebology)
- "The adverse reaction rate, cure rate, effective rate and total effective rate of patients with lymphatic vessel malformation were 94.00%, 54.00%, 84.00% and 94.00% respectively. The adverse reaction rate, cure rate, effective rate and total effective rate of venous malformation patients were 95.83%, 75.00%, 91.67% and 100.00%, respectively.ConclusionPolidocanol injection is better than Pingyangmycin in the treatment of maxillofacial vascular disorders, and the drug is milder, less adverse reactions and higher safety."

Neovascularisation in flexor carpi ulnaris tendinopathy: novel combined sclerosing therapy and eccentric training of the forearms in athletics' wrist pain.
(PubMed, BMJ Case Rep)
- "Sclerosing therapy using polidocanol under power and laser Doppler guidance was initiated, with immediate decrease of capillary blood flow by 25% with resolution of the neovascularisation in power Doppler. Immediately following sclerosing, the patient's reported pain level on the VAS was reduced from 9/10 to 4/10. Following a short period of rest, eccentric training of the forearm muscle was initiated over 12 weeks with functional complete recovery and complete resolution of wrist pain."

(PubMed, JAMA Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg)
- "Experts in using specific sclerotherapy agents (sodium tetradecyl sulfate and polidocanol), both in liquid or foam form, participated in surveys...While not formal treatment guidelines, these statements offer valuable insights for clinicians seeking to adopt or align with expert recommendations. Further validation and research are encouraged to ensure these consensus statements improve patient care and outcomes."

(PubMed, J Anus Rectum Colon)

Experience in the Treatment of Toxic Adenomas Using Percutaneous Ablation Techniques in a Tertiary Care Unit
(ENDO 2025)
- "15 (88.2%) were treated with thiamazole and 7 (41.2%) with propranolol. 11(64.7%) were treated with chemical ablation (CA) with ethanol and polidocanol and 6(35.3%) with radiofrequency thermal ablation (RFT)... PA treatment represents an effective and safe alternative treatment for patients with TA. The greater volume reduction through RFT suggests better efficiency, but it is dependent on the learning curve."

Marine-Lenhart Syndrome: Case Report
(ENDO 2025)
- "Thiamazole 30 mg/d and propranolol 20 mg/d were started. Percutaneous ablation of RTN was performed with 3% polidocanol 2 ml plus ethanol 1.5 ml and 8 mg intrathyroidal dexamethasone was administered in LTL... MLS is rare, but given the nature of the pathology, minimally invasive techniques can be implemented in its management combined with antithyroids to increase therapeutic efficacy."

Single-needle percutaneous foamed sclerotherapy using ultrasound and fluoroscopy guidance using "contrast washout technique" for the treatment of a slow-flow chest wall vascular malformation in a pediatric patient.
(PubMed, J Surg Case Rep)
- "We present the case of a 7-year-old child with a large, slow-flow VM on the right anterior chest wall, successfully treated with ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided foam sclerotherapy using polidocanol via the ``contrast washout'' technique. The procedure resulted in significant lesion resolution with no post-procedural pain. In addition to its effectiveness, this approach also spares patients from extensive surgical interventions, making it a valuable treatment option for pediatric VMs."

(PubMed, Am J Respir Cell Mol Biol)
- "The detergent polidocanol was adapted for distal lung pre-conditioning, inducing intrapulmonary airway epithelial denudation by 5 and 24-hours post-delivery...These findings demonstrate the utility of bronchoscopically targeted pre-conditioning and cell delivery to the conducting intra-pulmonary airways. Thus providing an important framework for pre-clinical translation of approaches for engineered airway epithelial regeneration."

Targeted Pre-conditioning and Cell Transplantation in the Murine Lower Respiratory Tract
(ATS 2025)
- "Our group has successfully transplanted mouse primary or pluripotent stem cell (PSC)-derived basal cells into the tracheas of syngeneic recipient mice post-polidocanol (PDOC) injury... We find evidence of engraftment of primary tracheal BCs throughout the intrapulmonary airways but also within the alveolar space. This finding highlights the need for robust translational, pre-clinical models for cellular therapeutics within the lung to pair pre-conditioning and donor cell type for engraftment into the intended niche while minimizing off target injury or engraftment."
