Unmet Need and Treatment Disparities Among Lupus Patients with Medicaid Insurance in the United States (ACR Convergence 2026) - Sep 8, 2026 - Abstract #286; Pres time: Nov 8, 2026; 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM; Location: WB1&2; In Person; "Patients were stratified by disease states of LN or extra-renal SLE and race/ethnicity and the following treatment endpoints were assessed within these strata: (1) Receipt of any nonsteroidal immunosuppression; (2) receipt of any aTX (belimumab, anifrolumab for SLE and belimumab, voclosporin for LN); and (3) receipt of hydroxychloroquine, the foundational therapy for treatment of lupus. In this study of Medicaid-insured individuals with SLE or LN, most patients were undertreated. While significant differences in receipt of treatment according to race/ethnicity were not observed in this study, it is concerning that many patients received neither hydroxychloroquine nor nonsteroidal immunosuppression therapy and that large majorities of patients did not receive aTX."
