PET/CT versus RECIST 1.1 criteria in the evaluation of response to immunotherapy of advanced malignant melanoma (EANM 2026) - Sep 29, 2026 - Abstract #EP-0577; "Materials and Patients with locally advanced, inoperable or metastatic MM treated with anti-PD-1 antibodies (nivolumab or pembrolizumab) in monotherapy or in combination with anti-CTLA-4 (nivolumab + ipilimumab) were included. Comparison of PET/CT results with RECIST criteria indicates that the actual percentage of durable response to immunotherapy may be significantly higher than the one obtained with the morphological evaluation with CT alone. Such results may lead to a more optimistic interpretation of the treatment response and encourage clinical decisions on earlier treatment discontinuation. On the other hand, in a small number of patients regarded as complete remission after CT, active MM foci can still be found pointing at the need for treatment continuation."
