Activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome induces type 1 inflammation and neutrophil activation in pyoderma gangrenosum across human and murine models (ESDR 2026) - Sep 9, 2026 - Abstract #018; Pres time: Sep 12, 2026; 08:30 AM - 10:00 AM; Location: Plenary - Hall 1; "We aimed to identify conserved pathogenic pathways by integrating analyses of human PG and a brequinar-induced murine model. Both agents suppressed inflammatory cytokine expression; however, only avacopan significantly improved wound healing. We demonstrated that NLRP3 inflammasome activation is a core pathogenic mechanism shared between human PG and the murine model, and that pharmacological inhibition of the C5a pathway represents a potential novel therapeutic strategy for PG."
