INVASIVE ASPERGILLUS INFECTION OF THE PETROUS APEX AND TEMPORAL MUSCLE IN A RITUXIMAB-TREATED ADOLESCENT WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (ESPID 2026) - May 28, 2026 - Abstract #EPV-1286; Pres time: Jun 1, 2026; 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM; Location: E-Poster Area; "The clinical course was complicated by recurrent temporal abscess formation requiring repeated surgical and ultrasound-guided drainage; following recurrence, combined antifungal therapy including liposomal amphotericin B was initiated. Persistently subtherapeutic voriconazole levels prompted a switch to isavuconazole, achieving adequate plasma concentrations...At abstract submission, the patient remains clinically stable after four months of systemic antifungal therapy under close multidisciplinary follow-up. Learning Points/Discussion This case highlights the risk of severe, atypical invasive aspergillosis in adolescents receiving B-cell depleting therapy and underscores the importance of early suspicion, combined surgical and antifungal management, therapeutic drug monitoring and prolonged follow-up."
