Renoprotective effects of C-peptide in the Dahl salt sensitive rat

- Urine albumin (UAE) & protein (UPE) increased by 74% & 92%, respectively, from baseline & time of sacrifice in HS2+veh rats; HS2+Cpep reduced glomerular permeability, tubulointerstitial fibrosis, renal inflammation, TGF-β & podocin protein expression while HS4+Cpep had no effect; C-peptide is renoprotective in non-diabetic experimental models with mild to moderate renal injury
